back in the day…

Born in Florence, SC, Phil's Bicycle World was a realization of a life long dream. Phil Murphy, owner and founder of Bicycle World says, "I was probably eight years old when my love for bicycles started. In 1953-1954, there were very few models to choose from. All the kids in the neighborhood had single speed, fat tire bikes and we would always be making changes to make our bikes faster. We were all competing to create the fastest bike out there. About that time, I found a man who had a small bike shop in his garage, just a few blocks from my house. I remember thinking how neat it would be to have a small shop like that one day. Little did I know, thirty years later, that childhood dream would become a reality."
